Tata Power signs MoU with Rajasthan Discoms to promote rooftop solar adoption
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan distribution companies (Discoms) — Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL), Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL), and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL). The partnership aims to promote rooftop solar adoption and energy conservation in Rajasthan, with a focus on implementing the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijali Yogna (PMSG: MBY) in the residential sector.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Mr. Alok; Chairperson of Rajasthan Discoms, Ms. Arti Dogra; and Managing Directors of JVVNL and AVVNL. Representatives from TPREL included Deepesh Nanda, MD & CEO, and Shivram Bikkina, Chief of Solar Rooftop & EV Charging Business. Senior officials from the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijali Yojna (PMSG:MBY) and technical staff from all three Discoms were also present.
Under this agreement, TPREL and Rajasthan Discoms will conduct campaigns to promote the adoption of rooftop solar energy, including the PMSG: MBY initiative. The initial focus will be on cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Bikaner, with plans to extend activities across the state. The partnership also includes vendor training and pricing strategies to facilitate efficient solar installations.

clean, affordable energy access for households while strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure. This collaboration will not only drive energy security but also contribute to Rajasthan’s vision of becoming a hub for sustainable and green energy solutions.”
